About DR Tom Davies

Tom studied Biology at the University of Warwick before completing his medical training at King’s College London.

He went on to work as a doctor across primary and secondary care, including roles in General Practice and Psychiatry. His interest in mental health eventually led him away from medicine and towards psychological therapy, alongside work in public health and digital mental health.

Tom subsequently trained in CBT at the University of East Anglia and is an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He now works as a CBT therapist in the East of England, alongside his independent practice, with a particular clinical interest in OCD and health anxiety.

Outside of his clinical work, Tom is a passionate long-distance hiker and has explored many of the long-distance trails across Europe. In 2018, he walked approximately 2,000 km from Canterbury to Rome along the Via Francigena over three months.

Walking has also played an important part in Tom's interest in philosophy and contemplative traditions. Many of the ideas explored in his book Self-Obsession developed through his experiences of long-distance walking and his longstanding interest in Eastern philosophy.
